Black Panther is the Microsoft Store's first UHD movie in the UK

Microsoft began adding 4K films to its Store catalog some time ago, but, thus far, that collection has come with one major downside: UHD content is non-existent outside of the U.S. Fortunately for those who live in the UK, it looks like Microsoft is beginning to expand its UHD footprint across the pond.

The UK Microsoft Store is now advertising Black Panther as being available in UHD. This makes Marvel's action flick the first – and so far, only – movie to receive such a treatment on the UK Microsoft Store. As is the case in the U.S., you will have to be willing to shell out a little extra for the UHD option. Black Panther, for example, is listed at £17.99, which comes in above the movie's HD cost of £13.99.

Still, if you're looking for some 4K content to consume on the UK store, this is a good sign. Just keep in mind that you'll need to be using an Xbox One S or One X connected to a compatible TV to watch in full 4K and HDR.

As we've noted recently, the Microsoft Store still has a ways to go for 4K content. While the U.S. selection is steadily growing with each new film released, those outside of the U.S. are currently left in the lurch. There's also no Movies Anywhere integration, which means purchasing through Microsoft won't give you access to your films on non-Microsoft devices. However, Microsoft may be looking to turn that around as well.

For UK buyers at least, hopefully Black Panther's appearance marks the start of a growing list of UHD titles.
