AdDuplex has released its latest monthly report on the Windows ecosystem, showing off the reach of the Windows 10 Creators Update among Windows 10 users and more. The main takeaway from the September report is that the Creators Update is now installed on 72.5 percent of all Windows 10 PCs. That's up from just under 66 percent as of AdDuplex's previous report in August.
By comparison, the Anniversary Update install base among Windows 10 users is now down to 23.2 percent, according to AdDuplex. As we're less than a month away from the release of the Fall Creators Update now, the Creators Update still lags behind the pace of the Anniversary Update's rollout. For comparison, AdDuplex points out the Anniversary Update had achieved 91.2 percent coverage in the month leading up to the release of the Creators Update.
Looking at coverage by manufacturer, Creators Update installs seem to hover at or above the global average across the board. Microsoft leads the pack with 80.9 percent of its devices running the Creators Update. Acer and Lenovo are the only two exceptions, with both coming in just below the global average install rate.
Finally, AdDuplex provides a peek into Surface market share numbers. Similar to previous months, the Surface Pro 4 remains the most prevalent Surface in use with a worldwide share of 41.2 percent. Surface Pro 3 comes in second with a 22.2 percent share, with Surface 3 and Surface Book following at 12.1 percent and 7.5 percent, respectively. The Surface Laptop and new Surface Pro still make up a comparatively small share of the Surface market with 1.7 percent and 5.8 percent, respectively.
As usual, it's worth keeping in mind that AdDuplex's numbers are based on a sampling of 5,000 Windows Store apps that use the firm's SDK. Real world figures likely differ, but AdDuplex's reports are handy for tracking trends. The numbers for the September report were gathered on September 20.
