HP targets artists and designers with its new ZBook x2 detachable PC

HP describes the portable PC as the "world's most powerful and first detachable PC workstation," and it has the specs to back that claim up. The ZBook x2 can be equipped with up to Intel's latest eighth-generation Core i7 processors, up to 32GB of RAM, and 512GB of SSD storage. In terms of graphical power, the ZBook x2 also includes discrete NVIDIA Quadro M620 graphics with 2GB of GDDR5 memory.

All of that is bundled into a frame that sports a 14-inch touchscreen that can be packed with up to a 4K resolution. On the rear of its relatively thick chassis, the ZBook x2 can be propped up with an included kickstand. In terms of ports, the detachable PC is equipped with two USB-C ports (with Thunderbolt), an SD card reader, a smart card reader, and HDMI port, and a single USB 3.0 port.

The PC can be docked to a detachable backlit keyboard, and the display supports input from an HP pen with 4,096 levels of pressure.

If you're a design professional in need of a portable PC with plenty of power, the ZBook x2 looks like it could be a solid choice. HP says that the ZBook x2 will go on sale this December starting at $1,749. The ZBook x2 joins a robust lineup of more traditional ZBook laptops introduced earlier in 2017.
