Yakuza series could come to Xbox One given enough demand

Yakuza is an incredibly popular action series which features an over-the-top story as well as an amazing karaoke simulator. Unfortunately, the recent games have been exclusive to PlayStation 4. However, if there's enough demand, that might change. An interview between Gameblog and Yakuza's developers revealed another console the titles could make the jump to.

When asked whether the Yakuza games could come to Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, producer Daisuke Sato said the following. The portions concerning the Nintendo Wii U pertain to the commercial failure of "Yakuza 1 & 2 HD for Wii U".

To be realistic about what happened... Nintendo Wii U was a major failure... We are always on the lookout to support multiplatform as much as possible... We know that it brings an additional audience... On the other hand, as far as the Nintendo Switch is concerned, I'm convinced that this is not the ideal platform on which to develop Yakuza games... Regarding the Xbox One, we can possibly consider it, knowing Xbox One users may be more likely to be interested in a game like Yakuza. This could potentially be an option.

This would be a great opportunity for Microsoft to step in and ensure that the Yakuza games were ported to Xbox One. Just like the recently-released Nier: Automata, the console needs more high-profile Japanese titles to enhance its appeal. Reaching out to Japanese studios and demonstrating the success games like Nier: Automata are witnessing on Xbox One should attract more interest.
